PROJECTS
Performance bands: In Scotland and Northern England we have helped to set up performance projects for local authorities.
In the Borders we have TRASH'd our main performance band and TRASH'll our integrated adult band. TRASH'd have performed at Festivals in Scotland and Northern England, Both Sides the Tweed , Traquair, Solfest, Hexham Gathering, 10 th Lottery Celebration; Glasgow Mayday and others. TRASH'll have, so far, only played locally, at town and village events and for other local groups. Both groups have helped with workshops.
Development Projects: TRASH has worked on a wide range of projects over the years that have specific purposes. From the very earliest TRASH project, to develop a performance piece for the Tweed Festival in 1994 TRASH has either initiated projects or acted in partnership with others.
We have taken part in developing performance groups in residential contexts; visited other areas to create bands for special events; run training programmes for a wide variety of carers/workers/volunteers in community/education/disability/after-school settings; supplied groups with equipment as well as running training; given advice; supplied packs/videos/DVD's.
Work types/areas
TRASH have worked with:
Primary schools – mainly senior classes but also with the younger children in small schools
Secondary schools – mainly for special projects; developing performance for festivals; joint projects with dance.
Summer school projects: In the Borders, Edinburgh and Durham . For primary and Secondary age children.
Youth groups – an important part of our day-to-day work in a wide range of contexts: Out-of-School groups; youth clubs; special groups – with social problems, with physical or mental difficulties (including a project with a group with hearing problems). The majority of these activities
Adult special needs groups – within Scotland and abroad; including integrated work. In Israel we worked on a “buddy” system bringing adults with special needs together with high school seniors to create a performance band. |
