SERVICES - In Service

Aim: To run one or more "In-service" type events for the following:

Educators working at Primary or Secondary level; especially those with a remit to broaden the appeal of the arts; to create more inclusive programmes; to create more socially inclusive, confidence building and sharing programmes; those looking for activity programmes outside the normal sports or dance fields.

Community Workers; those working to a social inclusion brief; and others with an interest in bringing more young people within the arts. The above comments apply.

The event(s) would involve high energy activity and may also interest those with a health brief. As we have worked with groups and individuals with a variety of disabilities over the years people working in these areas would also be welcome. In addition there are useful links with environmental studies.

Suggested scenario:

A session with TRASH: working with the "In-service" group; exploring our working methods; and including a hands-on element. Most people like to get involved rather than just taking part in discussion.

A second session with a dedicated group: primary; secondary; special needs; an integrated group. To: Observe TRASH in action, and finish with a review. Each participant will take away a pack of ideas on running TRASH type groups/events including links to other curriculum areas.

Outcomes:

Inspire other educators in the formal and informal sector, and community groups, to try junk percussion as a part of their practice.

Create an opportunity for TRASH to network with the community.

Allow us to put forward ideas and strategies for a longer-term connection between TRASH and organisation. For example exploring links with other arts forms or helping to set up groups in the area.
