Youth Workshop (morning and afternoon groups or all day group)
Saturday
Arrive Centre Set up for group
Introduce Youth Group(s) to TRASH
10.30 till 4: Beginners Workshop. An introduction to percussion using the big barrels. By the end of the workshop the group will be able to play together using a mix of rhythms, with the overall group being able to play in sections with a TRASH leader.
Sunday
Staff/community Training Workshop
10.30 till 3.30
Morning:
Lead the group through a typical workshop, explaining TRASH methods and materials as the morning progresses. The group will look at how this may be adapted to cater for different abilities and ages.
Afternoon
The group will be given a chance to try leading parts of the workshop guided by the
trainers. The trainers will suggest ways of developing new musical material and look
at how different resources might be used to make TRASH music.
Outcomes:
• Inspire confidence in taking music activities based round minimum resources and recycling.
• Add to team leading and sharing skills involving staff, volunteers and youth members
• Create a greater familiarity with the skills, techniques and vocabulary related to TRASH performing arts and it's possibilities.
• Stimulate a range of performance opportunities for young people
